Specifications Available

Anping factories produce stainless grating in the same bearing bar sizes as carbon steel — from 20×3mm up to 65×6mm. Most common export spec: 25×5mm @ 30mm pitch, 6mm round cross bar @ 50mm, SS 304.

Both plain and serrated (anti-slip) top surface available. Panel dimensions up to 6000×1200mm. Custom cut-to-size available. Electropolished finish on request.

What is the difference between SS 304 and SS 316 grating?

Both are austenitic stainless steels. SS 304 (18% Cr, 8% Ni) is the most common and cost-effective choice for food, pharmaceutical, and mild chemical environments. SS 316 adds 2–3% molybdenum, significantly improving resistance to chlorides, marine environments, and aggressive chemicals.

How much does stainless steel grating weigh compared to carbon steel?

SS 304 has a density of 7.93 g/cm³ vs 7.85 for carbon steel — approximately 1% heavier. SS 316 is 7.98 g/cm³, about 1.7% heavier than carbon steel. The difference is small enough that most weight calculations treat them as equivalent.

Can stainless steel grating be welded to carbon steel structures?

Direct welding of stainless to carbon steel causes galvanic corrosion at the joint over time. The correct method is to isolate them with a stainless fastener or neoprene pad, or weld with an appropriate filler metal if structural attachment is required.

What surface finish is standard for stainless steel grating?

Anping factories typically supply stainless grating with a 2B (bright annealed) or No. 1 (hot-rolled, annealed, pickled) finish. Mirror polish (#4, #8) is available at extra cost. The welded cross-bar joints are typically left as-welded unless electropolishing is specified.
