What is Serrated Grating?

Serrated (also called notched, anti-slip, or I-series in NAAMM terminology) grating is produced by cutting regular V-shaped or rectangular teeth into the top edge of each bearing bar after welding. The serration depth is typically 3–5 mm, with teeth pitched at approximately 10 mm intervals.

The notching creates sharp edges that bite into footwear soles, gloves, and machinery surfaces, dramatically reducing slip risk in wet or contaminated environments.

Standard Designations

NAAMM MBG 531

I-series suffix: 19-W-4 I (irregular serration), 19-W-4 R (regular). The 'I' suffix is the most common for industrial use.

BS 4592

Serrated grating is specified as 'anti-slip serrated top' under the same load classes A–E. No separate designation code.

GB/T 12755-2008

Type G (锯齿型 — serrated). All standard bearing bar sizes available in serrated form.
